All our crew have the relevant experience. They are usually Day Skipper plus and would have carried out similar passages to the one allocated to them.
Yacht Delivery Uk is teamed up with an RYA school, namely Crouch Sailing School, and has an extensive list of crew members. When we confirm a delivery we go out to our crew to see who is available. It is not always possible to have a crew available for the entire journey and therefore crew changes are sometimes required. this is something that we would factor into the costs and would give a worse case scenario upfront so there are no unwelcome surprises down the line. On the rare occasion that a crew member lets us down, we have standby crew ready to go at any stage. We always ask for a skipper plus 2 crew as a minimum. This is in the case that something should happen to one of the crew or skipper. We are aware that most boats can be sailed with 2, however, if you carry out the amount of deliveries we do, then the stats start to stack up against you and the things that can go wrong do. Therefore, in the safety of the boat and crew we always as for 3 known crew (including skipper). If the boat owner is on board during the delivery, he/she would not be counted as one of the crew unless previously agreed. This is simply because we would not be aware of the level of sailing experience and therefore would be an unknown. If it is decided that you have the relevant experience for the passage, then the skipper may decide he can drop a Yacht Delivery UK crew member and use you instead.
